{Lightbulb} Using FAR manager/SEFP in the K750/W800 filesystem

I'm making this tutorial because there seems to be a need for it.

First of all; I am in no way responsible for whatever you might do to your phone if you choose to follow this tutorial. You might render it completely unsusable for all I know. And that's bad! But not my problem.

First of all you'll need the FAR Manager program. Download and install version 1.70.

Edit: Then you'll need the latest SE Flash Plugin for FAR Manager. Unzip the content to the ..\Program Files\Far\Plugins\ folder.
Credits to Darkmen for the plugin.

When you start FAR you'll get this screen:

You jump between the two file views using Tab.

Pressing Alt+F1 gives you this screen:

Select "SEFP" from the list to enter the phone. Make sure the phone is turned off and the DCU-60 cable is connected to the computer but NOT the phone.

Hit Enter and you're presented with this screen:

Make sure the settings match for the DCU-60 cable and Tab to "Enter The Matrix" and hit Enter.

You get this screen telling you what to do:

When the phone is detected you get this:

And you can release the "c" button.

The program connects to the phone and shows this screen:

Select FS (for filesystem) and hit Enter, and the program scrolls through some info and then you're in the root of the filesystem:

And from here you can move to the different folders using Arrow Up/Down and hitting Enter. The .. at the top gives you the parent folder.

Pressing Alt+F2 lets you choose what device you want to see on the right hand side:

Here I've moved to the /tpa/preset/system/menu folder on the phone:

I've marked the files in yellow for deletion. You mark files/folders holding down Shift and using the Arrow keys. Hit F8 to delete and answer "Yes" in the confirmation box.

I've marked the files on the right hand side for copying them to the phone:

Press F5 to copy. Move to "Copy" in the box and hit Enter.

And the icons are copied to the phone:

IMPORTANT!
When you've finished with the changes on the phone move up to the root of the filesystem, until you get this screen:

And answer "Yes" to SHUTDOWN the CSFSloader. Otherwise your changes will not be made on the phone. And the phone could become unusable.

You end FAR Manager by pressing F10:

And answering "Yes"

That's it for now. I might expand this with some more tips eventually.

If someone else has other tips feel free to add to this thread.

---
Edit: Let me just emphasize this, as there seems to be a lot of questions about it:

If you're not completely sure about what you're doing in regards to editing the filesystem with FAR Manager, you probably shouldn't do it. There's a very real possibility that you'll end up with a very expensive paperweight. You have been warned!

The "Increasing your SMS storage space" tip

This is the file you need to change in order to increase the SMS storage space:

Move to /ifs/settings/messaging and go to the file: pref_store.txt press F4 to edit.

edit the path /smsdata to read:

/tpa and press F2 to save and F10 to quit the editor.

You might also have to make some of the following folders:
/tpa/messaging
/tpa/messaging/sms
/tpa/messaging/sms/msg
/tpa/messaging/sms/FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
/tpa/messaging/sms/FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF/pending
/tpa/messaging/sms/FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF/sm
/tpa/messaging/sms/FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF/sr
/tpa/system/messaging/sms

To make folders just move to the folder where you want the sub-folder and press F7 and type the folder name in the box.

Remember to move to the root folder and answer "yes" to end the CSFSloader.

Disconnect your phone and wait a few seconds before turning it on.

Probably because you're using a menu.ml file that doesn't include the change you need.

If you're using one of the icon sets where the icons are named:
icon1_selected.png
icon1_unselected.png
icon2_selected.png
... etc
you can try the attached menu.ml.

Yes, you should be able to change the sub menu icons, too. It's all a matter of rewriting the menu.ml and adding the proper icons.

--

Edit: I've tried it, and yes you can change the sub menu icons. But man, that's a lot of icons to make if you're going to change them all!
